Firmcheck API Terms of Use
Effective: 28 May 2025
Thanks for your interest in integrating with the Firmcheck API! These Terms of Use (“Terms”) set out the rules for using our API. By accessing or using the Firmcheck API, you agree to these Terms.
1. Access and Use
You may use the API solely to build and maintain integrations that interact with Firmcheck services.
You must use a unique API key and keep it secure. Please don’t share it, or try to bypass any limits or restrictions we apply.
2. Fair Usage
Don’t overload, abuse, or try to reverse-engineer the API.
We may throttle or suspend access if your usage harms our systems or users.
3. Security and Privacy
You must protect any data accessed via the API and comply with all applicable data protection laws (including UK GDPR).
If you become aware of any security breach involving Firmcheck data or users, let us know straight away at [email protected].
4. Prohibited Uses
You must not use the API to:
- Build a competing product
- Engage in unlawful, harmful, or deceptive activities
- Collect or store Firmcheck user data without their clear consent
5. No Sharing or Reselling
Your API access is just for you (or your company). Please don’t share it, resell it, or let others use it without our written permission. You’re responsible for anything that happens using your API key, so keep it secure.
6. Termination
We may suspend or revoke your API access at any time, especially if you breach these Terms. We'll aim to give you notice, but we may act immediately if needed.
7. Disclaimer and Liability
The API is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee uptime, support levels, or error-free responses.
To the extent allowed by law, Firmcheck isn’t liable for any damages resulting from your use of the API.
8. Confidentiality
You might come across confidential or commercially sensitive information while using the API – like technical details, business plans, or anything not publicly available. Please treat this info as private, and don’t share it unless we’ve given you permission in writing.
9. Changes to the API
We’re always improving Firmcheck, so the API may change from time to time – including new features, updates, or retiring old ones. We’ll do our best to give you a heads-up about major changes, but can’t guarantee everything will stay the same forever.
10. Support
The API is designed to be self-serve and easy to use. While we don’t guarantee support levels, we’re happy to help where we can, just reach out at [email protected]. If bugs or issues arise on our side, we’ll aim to resolve them promptly.
11. Brand Use
Please don’t use the Firmcheck logo or branding in your own materials, marketing, or product UI without our written permission. We’re open to great partnerships, just please check with us first.
14. Monitoring and Audit
We may monitor your API usage to ensure everything’s running smoothly and within these Terms. Occasionally, we may request information about how you're using the API – especially if something seems off. We'll always aim to be fair and reasonable.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll do our best to notify you of major changes with good and fair notice, but there’s no guarantee of this and it’s your responsibility to check back occasionally.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If a serious disagreement arises, we’ll try to resolve it in good faith. If that doesn't work, we agree to resolve it through the courts of England and Wales.
